The Vancouver Island Spine Trail is a proposed trail from Victoria to Cape Scott on Vancouver Island. Over 700 km long, the VI Spine trail will link
existing trails into a linear recreation facility for non-motorized travel for Island residents and tourists alike. VISTA, the association
promoting the VI Spine Trail, has been operating since 2009 as a registered non-profit society.
VISTA has constructed new trail and is working to connect many other trails and unused logging roads to provide access to the wilderness backcountry
and working forests of the Island. VISTA cooperates with the Trans Canada Trail, many outdoor clubs, regional and local governments, in planning the trail alignment
and seeking access to lands which are owned by private forestry companies and Crown land, including traditional lands of First Nations.
