Andrew Pape-Salmon

Government Liaison

Andrew Pape-Salmon

Andrew is the government relations liaison who helps raise awareness and navigates trail development proposals with all levels of government, including the proposed 20km Coastal Connector Trail. He is thrilled to support the NTS as a Director and was the acting President in 2019. He’s been an active trail user for over 45 years as a trail runner, hiker, cross-country skier, mountaineer, and mountain biker across the eight Canadian provinces and territories he has lived in!

Andrew is a trail dreamer, leading the Coastal Connector Trail initiative with NTS and envisions a long-distance non-motorized trail route all the way from Downtown Victoria (starting at the Johnston Street Bridge) to Port Alberni via the West Coast Trail.

He’s also served on the Board of Directors for the Vancouver Island Trail, Strathcona Nordics, Alpine Club of Canada, and Prairie Inn Harriers. In 2010, he organized the Vancouver Island Spine Trail Relay and covered 500 km with multiple modes from Cape Scott to Victoria. Seeking to build partnerships and over 200 km of trails in the region!
